Tobacco is highly addictive; it is very easy to get hooked. Addictive behaviors are very hard to change. Smoking is a significant contributor to many diseases. It increases the risk of heart disease, lung disease and cancers and there are many oral conditions attributed to smoking and tobacco use.
If you smoke, try to quit.
- Ask for encouragement from family and friends.
- Ask another smoker to quit with you.
- Call organizations such as the American Cancer Society for support groups in your area.
- Talk to your dentist or physician about nicotine gum or patches.
